Practice Roles: Architect, Contract Administrator, and Quantity Surveyor
Consulting Engineer: Milk Structures
Contractor: Building & Decorating Ltd
Wine Cellar: Spiral Cellars Ltd
Attributed to the architect Richard Norman Shaw, this grade II listed house was originally built during the second phase of development of Bedford Park in the 1870’s. Opportunity to add space was limited, however, a conservatory extension was consented with a spiral wine cellar concealed beneath the new stone floor. A new opening in the outrigger offered a direct connection between the conservatory and a new kitchen space with new circulation around the house. The original parquet floor was painstakingly restored, and materials and details were authentically continued into the new areas to produce a holistic result.
